All new additions to your collection should be inspected

Major Pests: The major insect pests that
attack textile collections are carpet beetles, moths,
cockroaches, silverfish and firebrats. Pests
can destroy a valuable doll or costume in a very short time, so
examine for signs of vermin frequently. Practice good housekeeping
to safeguard your collection. Keep display and storage
areas clean. Do not permit food in the display or storage areas.
Always place bagged moth crystals in the tops of textile storage
containers or cases. The active ingredient in the crystals is
heavier than air, so they must be suspended from inside tops of
cases or containers, rather than placed on the bottom. Wash hands
often when handling stored dolls or accessories, and use gloves
to protect yourself from unknown contaminants
