A little background and history...

Members of the United Federation of Doll Clubs are united by their appreciation for dolls. The objectives of the non-profit organization are to create, stimulate and maintain a national and international interest in all matters pertaining to doll collecting.

UFDC's headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri, houses its museum doll collection, and maintains permanent archives of historical documents relating to dolls for the study and enjoyment of members and the viewing public. Educational events, such as national conventions and regional conferences, and a lending library of slide and video programs, provide entry to the wide world of doll collecting, doll dressing and doll making.

The United Federation of Doll Clubs was incorporated in 1949 with fourteen member clubs. Today there are more than seven hundred member clubs in seventeen countries with a total membership in excess of fifteen thousand people. UFDC Corporate Headquarters and Museum is centrally located in Kansas City, Missouri.

Members of UFDC, Inc. are united by a common appreciation for dolls. The objectives of the non-profit corporation are to create, stimulate and maintain a national interest in all matters pertaining to doll collecting; to promote and assist in the preservation of historical documents pertaining to dolls; to serve as a clearing house for ideas pertaining to dolls; to promote and stimulate interest in the establishment and maintenance of museum doll collections and other permanent and temporary exhibits for display in public places; to assist the educational process through the sponsorship of and participation in lectures, seminars, conferences, and symposia; to publish a magazine to encourage the above enumerated charitable, scientific and educational activities.

To meet its objectives, UFDC maintains permanent archives of catalogs, research materials, patent papers, patterns and other ephemera relating to dolls. Assistance is offered to authors and researchers through the department of ReAL Services and the library research area at our museum. Selections from UFDC's doll collection, comprised of antique, modern, collectible and artist dolls, remain on permanent display in the museum area for study and enjoyment.

DOLL NEWS , the official publication, is well respected world-wide. The magazine is published quarterly and is filled with original research and informative articles about all areas of dolls and doll collecting. UFDC caters to doll collectors of all ages. The Junior Collector program builds an interest in doll collecting and provides children under eighteen with their own newsletter allowing them to communicate with others around the country about their shared love of dolls and enjoy puzzles, projects and activities relating to dolls.
