Happy Birthday Madame Alexander!
Time: 8:00 pm ET
Description:
Beatrice Berman, born Bertha Alexander (1895 -1990), founded the Madame Alexander Doll Company in 1923 in New York City. Her father, Maurice Alexander, owned a doll hospital in a street-level storefront on the Lower East Side, below the family residence. As a child, Bertha saw the broken porcelain dolls that came in for repair and vowed that someday she would make dolls that didn't break.
Join National Doll Club member Barbara Comienski as she presents an overview of Madame's famous doll faces. Participants are encouraged to share several of their dolls.
Invitations:
National Doll Club invites the UFDC community to attend. Please email nationaldollclub@gmail.com to request a link, no later than one day before the program (100 person limit).
