The Battle For America: Paper Doll drawn by Bruce Patrick Jones
A childhood fascination with paper dolls from comics turned into a compelling hobby when, years later, I re-discovered these paper people decorating some giftwrap I bought. Now, I enjoy finding paper dolls used as advertising, editorial illustration or simply as the toys they often were.
After graduating from high school in Kingston, Jamaica, I worked for five years in advertising, gaining skills which would serve me throughout my work life. In 1971 I moved to Toronto, Canada, to enhance my abilities at the Ontario College of Art. After college I returned to advertising, doing art direction in print and broadcast, bolstered by my drawing skills.
