Description:
Join us to trace the evolution of Mattel's beautiful Black Barbie Dolls from their debut through today . The Historic Black Barbie presentation features dolls representing real Black historical figures who made significant contributions to society. Their stories highlight the power of representation and the impact of celebrating true change makers. Through these dolls, history becomes both visible and inspiring.

Dr. Karen Evans is a member of the Black Gold Doll Club of New England and the Fashion Doll Friends Club. A passionate collector since childhood, her eclectic collection spans diverse doll types, colors, and mediums. She enjoys sharing her knowledge through dynamic presentations and workshops for doll lovers of all ages. Deeply committed to community outreach, she works tirelessly to organize doll drives that provide free, inclusive, and culturally diverse dolls to local children and families.

Cheryl Brown-Greene is the Past President and a current member of the Black Gold Doll Club of New England, as well as a member of the Fashion Doll Friends Club. She served as Co-Coordinator of UFDC Junior Collectors from 2012–2013 and has co-authored two articles for Doll News. Having loved dolls for as long as she can remember, her collection includes many types, but she is especially proud of her historic dolls. Through presentations and workshops, she shares her passion with fellow doll clubs, schools, libraries, and the greater Boston community.

Diahann Brown-Lawton is a member of the National Doll and Toy Collectors Club of New York City, Fashion Doll Friends Club and the Black Gold Doll Club of New England. Throughout the years Ms. Brown-Lawton has showcased parts of her collection at the Newark Public Library, Newark, New Jersey, the Go On Girl Book Club Award Ceremony in Phoenix, Arizona and Birmingham, Alabama and The Research Foundation of the City University of New York.
