Understanding the UFDC Competitive Exhibit
Presented by Donelle Denery
Chair of Student/Apprentice Judges, class of 2024, 2025
Time: 11:30 am ET
Description:
This program reviews the criteria used for judging all categories of dolls in the UFDC Competitive Exhibit and how these criteria are applied. It will explain the importance of documentation and provide examples of disqualifications. Many blue ribbon winners from past antique competitive exhibits will be shown.
Donelle Denery served as Chair of Judges of the Antique Exhibit for four years, from 2013 to 2017. She herself participated in the Judge Apprentice Program more than 20 years ago, and since then has consistently participated as a judge at the annual UFDC Convention, as well as several Regionals. Becoming a judge has sharpened her skills in recognizing rarity, condition and originality in dolls she adds to her collection. Donelle Denery is a former Region 15 Director.
The newly revamped Student Apprentice Judge Program began with the class of 2024 (already in progress; admission is closed). The deadline to apply for the class of 2025 is December 31, 2024. Donelle encourages those who love research, can access video conferencing through a computer, and can commit to attend the next few conventions to consider applying for the program. www.ufdc.org/education/apprentice-judge-program
