About Doug James
Doug James is a distinguished doll artist and theatrical costumer with a rich background in theatre arts from Eastern Michigan University. He has designed award-winning fashion dolls for notable companies including Gene Marshall, Ashton-Drake, Madame Alexander, Knickerbocker, Horsman, and Integrity Toys.
Doug is best known as the creator and owner of JDJ International, Inc., through which he developed the innovative C.E.D. and “S” Series lines of highly articulated 19-inch fashion dolls, as well as the 16-inch Somers and Field lines. His dolls are celebrated for their elegant design, fine articulation, and use of high-quality natural fabrics. Beyond doll design, Doug has an extensive career in theatrical millinery and costume design, contributing to Broadway productions and major films, and has earned two Emmy Awards for his television work. His dolls have garnered international acclaim and have been featured in unique venues such as Bloomingdale's holiday windows and album covers.
