Fall 2020 From The Editor

Linda Holderbaum

As we continue to adjust in this difficult time we have made several interesting adjustments to the UFDC schedule. A very successful OnTime OnLine Event was held! Our thanks to all the UFDC officers, presenters and dealers who worked so hard to make this first-time event a success! While we could not come together in person we were certainly together in spirit and continue to be!

Another unusual aspect of DOLL NEWS this time is the inclusion of the convention journal in this issue. The "The Fabulous Fifties" Journal produced by editor Jennifer Kohn Murtha and her team would have been included with your registration at the convention in Texas.

To keep with this year's convention theme of "The Fabulous Fifties" several of our talented authors took us back in their time machine to the 1950s. Woolsey Ackerman gives us an informative look at the celebrities who entertained us and brings back all those stars that you loved to watch. Rosemary Deal turns back the clock to the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, which was the first "big event" that could be watched in the newly invented television. Carol Cameron's "Broke the Mold Part II" article features the wonderfully designed Munich Art Dolls. Kari Gluski shows us the delightful Pennsylvania Dutch Doll furniture which was made in the 1950s.

We have included some of our short "Focus on" articles. Another new item will be our "Snapshot" pages. These snapshots are old press photographs to put the dolls we collect in a historical context. Watch for more of these included in upcoming issues as space permits. Thank you to those who have submitted Mystery Dolls to us. Because of space limitations for this issue we will feature them in the Winter 2021 DOLL NEWS.

So, take this issue, grab a doll, sit down and enjoy the knowledge and passion shared by our fantastic authors.
