An Edwardian Paper DollDrawn by Sandra Vanderpool
I have always played with paper dolls and, of course, designed new wardrobes for my favorites. In fact I believe that my playing with paper dolls has led me to my career choice in fashion illustration.
I have a BFA from the Art Center College of Design in California and I worked for several years as a fashion illustrator.
Then I married and moved to Colorado. I began collecting paper dolls and my "love affair" with those paper people began all over. I started designing paper doll sets in 1987 and sending my work to OPDAG "“ the original paper doll artist guild, now known as Paper Doll Studio.
I have continued to contribute to that publication as well as to Doll Reader, Contemporary Doll magazine and DOLL NEWS.
I have self-published over 400 sets and put out a catalog once a year for my loyal patrons, some who have been ordering from me since 1987. I have designed historical sets, movie star sets, fashion history themes "“ you name it and I have probably designed it.
I love paper dolls and paper doll art and I am so honored to be recognized by my fellow artists as a "member in excellent standing."
me as a souvenir artist for the last several years, with last year being very special because I took home the "Peoples' Choice Award" for my paper doll depicting the "History of the Riding Outfit.
